Youth Lessons 6yrs – 11yrs

Polliwog I (Beginner I)
This is the beginning level for school-age children. It gets children acquainted with the pool, the use of flotation devices, and floating. By the end of this level, they should know the front paddle stroke, and side and back paddle. This level requires no pre-requisites.

Wednesday 5:30pm – 6:15pm
Saturday 10:00am – 10:45am

Polliwog II (Advanced Beginner)
For the experienced Polliwog or for beginning swimmer who are comfortable but not yet strong enough to swim in deeper water. This level teaches water orientation skills, arm stroke, kicking, rhythmic breathing, flotation, and developing self confidence. Swimmers will also begin to experience swimming at various depths in the pool.

Guppy (Intermediate I)
Swimmers continue to practice and build upon basic skills, now performing more skills without the aid of a flotation device. They are introduced to the front and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke. Children can swim a length of the pool without assistance at the end of this level.

Minnow (Intermediate II)
Minnows must be able to swim 25yds front crawl using consistent rotary breathing and 25yds back crawl. This level refines front and back crawl and introduces breaststroke, survival floating, treading water, and emergency procedures.

Monday 6:30pm – 7:15pm
Wednesday 4:30pm – 5:15pm
Saturday 10:00am – 10:45am

Fish/Shark (Advanced)
At this level, students work to perform the crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, back crawl stroke, and sidestroke, with turns. They are introduced to the butterfly stroke. They learn diving skills and continue learning personal safety, boating, and rescue skills.

Wednesday 6:30pm – 7:15pm
Saturday 11:00am – 9:45am

Pre-Swim Team ages 5 and up
Members: $100 non-Members: $150
This class is offered for children 5 and up who can swim at least 25 yards of the pool. in this class participants will learn the necessary skills for success on a swim team. the class will focus on the 4 competitive strokes and work on starts, turns, and stroke technique. Program will meet twice per week for 6 weeks.
Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-7:15pm

Teen Lessons ages 12-17
Member $58 Non-member $100
This class is offered to participants 12 and up. It is designed for teens that may or may not have had a previous swim class. Teens will work on various strokes, building strength and endurance, as well as correct body positioning.
Saturdays 12:00-12:45pm

Make-up Policy
We cannot offer makeups, credits, or refunds for any missed classes during the session. Classes that are cancelled for any reason by the YMCA will be re-scheduled by the Aquatics Department.*Please note any class with fewer than three participants is subject to cancellation.
